Elmer Alley
DOB Unknown – June 9, 2008
Elmer Alley’s career spanned radio, television, cable television and the record industry, but he is probably best known as one of the creators of Nashville’s Fan Fair and Opryland. As a recording engineer, Alley worked on records by, among others, Hank Williams and Burl Ives. He passed away on June 9, 2008 at the age of 87.
I first met Elmer while I was performing at The Natchez Trace Restaurant in the Bellvue area. Elmer became a regular at my shows and eventually gave me a spot on The Ralph Emery morning television show which really boosted the attendance at my performances. I spent many an evening chatting with him about the music business and he very unselfishlessly shared his vast knowledge with me. I shall always remember Elmer as a kind Gentle spirit who always had time for everyone and gave of himself freely. Knowing Elmer was a genuine blessin in my life. My most sincere sympathy goes to all of those who loved him. God Bless, Tim Landers
