James Alan Hull
February 20, 1945 – November 17, 1995

alanhullAlan Hull was the lead singer and primary songwriter for British folk rock band, Lindisfarne.  Formed in 1970, Lindisfarne had a handful of UK hit singles including, “Lady Eleanor,” “Meet Me On The Corner,” and “Fog On The Tyne.”  Hull stayed active with different formations of Lindisfarne through the ’70s and then continued on basically as a solo artist up until his death.  Alan Hull, 50, died suddenly of heart thrombosis while working on a new album.

  1. Great guy and a fabulous entertainer. There’s a new live album of a solo gig of his from 1977 on the Market Square label which captures him at the heights of his powers. Works a crowd a treat!

  2. I purchased a s/h copy (Tape) of ‘Back & Forth’ last weekend.
    As a newcomer to Lindisfarne and Alan Hull’s composing, I was very impressed with ‘Run For Home’ which I am sure the ‘Eagles’ could have plagiarised like they did with that Ian Anderson/Jethro Tull song, ‘We Used To know’ sounding similar to Hotel California!.

    I went to one of Lindisfarne’s unplugged gigs (in Deal) a few years back.
    Alan Hull was mentioned during the concert.
