Bob Weston was a British guitarist and songwriter who is perhaps best remembered for his time with Fleetwood Mac. Brought on as a replacement for Danny Kirwin in 1972. He played and sang on the band’s Penguin and Mystery To Me albums. He also shared writing credits on a few songs. During the band’s 1973 tour, Mick Fleetwood learned that Weston had been carrying on an affair with his wife, Jenny Boyd so the tour imploded, Weston was fired, and the band went on hiatus. Some have speculated that if it weren’t for this event and the turmoil that followed, Fleetwood Mac may have never included Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham who were brought on after Bob Welch quit. Weston went on to record a handful of solo albums and played on releases by the likes of Murray Head, Long John Baldry, and Sandy Denny. Bob Weston died of gastric intestinal hemorrhage and other health related issues on January 3, 2012. He was 64.

Known as Israel’s “Songstress of the Wars,” Yafa Yarkoni began to find popularity during the late ’40s. She earned her nickname thanks to her frequent performances for Israeli troops during wartime. During Israel’s War of Independence in 1948, Yarkoni joined an Israel Defense Forces singing group with whom she sang “Bab el-Wad,” a song which has become a standard and is sung each year on Israel’s Memorial Day. Yarkoni’s list of fan favorites also includes “Road To Jerusalem” and “Don’t Say Goodbye, Say I’ll See You.” She suffered from Alzheimer’s Diseases in later years and made her last television appearance in 2007. Yafa Yarkoni was 86 when she passed away on January 1, 2012.
Fred Milano is best remembered as part of the influential doo-wop singing outfit, Dion & The Belmonts. Formed by Dion DiMucci during the late ’50s, the vocal group perfected their harmonies while singing on street corners in the Bronx section of New York City. They went on to world-wide fame with such hits as “I Wonder Why,” “A Teenager In Love,” and “Where Or When.” Dion left the group for a solo career in 1960, so the Belmonts continued on as a trio. They reunited with DiMucci a couple over the next ten years or so. Milano went on to work for the New York City Department of Correction. Fred Milano died as a result of lung cancer on January 1, 2012. He was 72.
Crishun “Rapstar” Moore was an up-and-coming Memphis rapper. A protegé of Let It Be Known Records CEO P. Moses, Moore was on his way to achieving his goal of being one of genres biggest stars. Over the course of his relatively short career, Moore shared the stage with Bow Wow, Young Jeezy, and Yo Gatti. Chrishun “Rapstar” Moore was just 21 when he suffered a fatal heart attack on December 30, 2011.
Robert Dickey was an R&B singer who is perhaps best remembered as the original “Bobby” of James & Bobby Purify, who scored a huge hit with “I’m Your Puppet” in 1966. Formed by Dickey’s cousin, James Purify, in 1965, the duo released several charting singles while recording for Bell Records – that list “Shake A Tail Feather,” “Let Love Come Between Us,” and of course, “I’m Your Puppet” which ultimately reached #6 on the Billboard pop charts. In 1971, Dickey left the group due to health issues and was replaced by a second “Bobby,” Ben Moore. Dickey retired from the music business in 1972 and spent many years working for the City of Tallahassee, Florida while singing and playing guitar in his church group. Robert Dickey was 72 when he passed away on December 29, 2011. Cause of death was not immediately released.
