Warren Wayne Brown was a one-time vice president of MCA Music as well as brother of jazz band leader, Les Brown. After WWII, Brown who had played the trombone in the Navy band, went to work as a song plugger for Leeds Music. When MCA purchased Leeds, Brown moved to Los Angeles to become VP. He retired in 1981 and passed away of an undisclosed illness on September 15, 2008.
Hector Zazou was a much respected French composer and producer who has collaborated with Bjork, Mark Isham, Siousxie Sioux, David Sylvian, Suzanne Vega, Robert Fripp, Peter Buck and many more. He was celebrated for his ability to fuse classical influences with electronic music. Hector Zazou, age 60, passed away after after falling ill earlier in the year. Cause of death was not immediately released.
Luciano Pavarotti was an immensely popular operatic singer who successfully crossed over to pop music during the 1990s. In the early part of the decade, he joined Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras to perform and record as The Three Tenors. Their album together went on to become the biggest selling classical album in history. Over the years he has sung with such pop acts as U2, Vanessa Williams and Mercedes Sosa. He is the only opera singer to ever perform on Saturday Night Live. Pavarotti was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer while in the midst of his “farewell tour” of 2006. He died of the disease on September 6, 2007.
