Belita Woods
October 23, 1948 – May 14, 2012
Belita Woods was a Detroit, Michigan soul singer who first commanded attention while fronting Brainstorm during the ’70s. Beginning as a solo act, Woods released her first single, “Magic Corner,” in 1967. She later joined Brainstorm who, in 1977, released their debut album, Stormin’. It included the disco hit, “Love Is Really My Game.” The following year, Brainstorm released two more albums before Woods went off on her own again. In 1992, she joined the P-Funk All-Stars, with whom she toured for many years. Through the course of her career, Woods sang on records by the likes of George Clinton, Prince, Bootsy Collins, and Betty Wright. Belita Woods died of heart failure on May 14, 2012. She was 63.

I happen to be on Rhapsody to google the incomparable Ms Belita woods that was so hurtful to see. I am from Detroit and used to go to the club @ the time called "AXLES" on 8mile. I cannot think of the female saxsophone player she used to sing with a few people plus Trina Womack was in the band too however I had the pleasure of meeting her , hung out with her. She took me to my 1st after hour joint. We both lived in Palmer Park area. The most realist, down to earth sweetest heartfelt woman I ever met. She played on the roof top of the Ponchatrain one summer. She was beautiful and sexy and sang her heart out. I will always love and forever remember you girl through I reside in Cali now I will lift up your family & friends and me , your #1 fan. I just told my man some wonderful times we had. Such a unique sound U hardly find but Leandria Johnson (gospel) is close. I will sing for u Belita Woods Much Love R.I.P. your friend Vee.
