Willem Breuker
November 4, 1944 – July 23, 2010
Willem Breuker was a prominent Dutch jazz musician, composer and bandleader. A saxophonist and bass clarinetist, Breuker lived outside the traditional world of jazz in that he added elements of contemporary classical and delivered often presented his music in a more theatrical manner. Throughout his long career he either formed or played in the Instant Composers Pool, Globe Unity Orchestra, Gunter Hampel Group, and the Willem Breuker Kollektief. He was knighted by the Order of the Neterlands Lion in 1998. Willem Breuker was 65 when he passed away on July 23, 2010.
