Peter Laughner
August 22, 1952 – June 22, 1977
Peter Laughner was a founding guitarist for Cleveland cult faves, Pere Ubu. Helping form the band in 1975, Laughner and company are considered to be one of the foundations of Cleveland’s alternative rock scene. His tenure with the band didn’t last long due to his struggles with drug addiction. Laughner was also a contributor to the legendary Creem magazine. He died of pancreatic at the age of 24.

Holy shit! Don Harvey, I love the recording you made with Laughner around ’76. The version I have is called The Ann Arbor Tapes and it has fantastic versions of Amphetamine and the best version of Dead Letter Zone. Great recording.
Hello Bryce!
Thanks so much for your kind words about the “Ann Arbor Tapes” – it was the last time I played music with Peter (I’d played bass in his highschool band). Sure wish he’d stuck around… It looks like SmogVeil will be releasing it as part of their forthcoming series of Laughner CDs.
[BTW – I think the photo is of Tim Wright]
Thanks guys! I replaced the picture I had up.
Sorry about that
Vince
