Greg Pineda
April 20, 1954 – January 3, 2009

greg-pinedaGreg Pineda, was the lead singer and guitarist for Southern California band,  Aluminum Marshmallow.   Originally formed by Pineda and Tom Behrens back while still in elementary school in 1967, the group had reunited several years ago.  Since then, they have become local favorites in Sierra Madre, California.   Pineda also owned and operated a recording studio, All Media Services, in Westlake Village, California.  It was there that he produced a series of music videotapes called The Hollywood Music Store with the help of Chuck Negron, as well as members of Ambrosia, REO Speedwagon, Chicago and more.  Greg Pineda was 54 when he passed away on January 3, 2009.  He had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just a few months earlier.

Thanks to Sierra Madre Sue for the help

  1. loved that man, he was my father in law and an amazing man on top of an amazing musician.

  2. father, grandfather, husband, businessman, musician, friend, encourager and joyful spirit. Greg improved any space he occupied and added to any relationship with his smile…his playfulness and his energy. We have been blessed by Greg and are grateful for the time we had. Jafra friend, PK

  5. Greg was my friend and I spent a lot of time with him before he opened All media. We shot the Moorpark Melodrama together as well as other things. We used to shoot trailers to raise money for movies (our movies we hoped) and so on. Greg was more fun than I have the words for here. When passed away I felt like someone reached inside of me and ripped out 22 years of my best memories with one yank! I will fight to keep those memories as long as I live. I still have the myspace messages from Greg from the day he first told me he lost weight and felt great along with the one a couple of weeks later when he told me that he lost more weight and was diagnosed with the cancer. I have trouble breathing every time I read them and often find myself just staring at the page. He was a great guy and I will miss him the rest of my life. I hope Dianne and the boys can recover from this and go on with their lives. My life will never be the same knowing he is gone but I will try to just remember the good times and there was a bunch of them!

  6. Greg was my friend. It is difficult to put into words how truly beloved he was… Greg was a fellow musician who allowed his kindness and joy to permeate all around him. His talent was matched only by his overflowing optimism and sincere generousity.
I find it extremely difficult to write these words and to imagine a world where Greg isn’t around.
But, in my soul, he very much is.

  7. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREG !!!!!!!!!!! I miss you and am thinking of you as usual!!!

    Love you buddy…

  8. I just found out about Greg’s passing yesterday. Almost a year after the fact. Greg was the originator and my partner in the Hollywood Music Store project several years ago. I very much enjoyed working and creating with Greg. He was first and foremost a family man, and I was lucky to meet and work with members of his family for about 3 years. I am very saddened by their loss. Our loss. I hope his family is coping these few month later.

I will miss you my friend.
