Joe Beck
July 29, 1945 – July 22, 2008
Joe Beck was a much respected jazz guitarist who was equally at home whether performing mainstream jazz, soul jazz, post bop or fusion. Beck released numerous albums dating back to 1970. Over the years, he’s played wth the likes of Miles Davis, Gil Evans, Buddy Rich, Woody Herman, Stan Getz, James Brown, Herbie Hancock and many more. Beck died of lung cancer at the age of 62.

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this. I had not heard of the passing of Joe Beck until I read your article. I had the wonderful opportunity to interview Joe back in August and he was in good spirits at the time and seemed to be recovering nicely. I was saddened to read that this was not the case. Thanks again for letting us know and take care.
